4120.03/5120.03 — Physical Oceanography

Prerequisites: MATH 1000, MATH 1010; classic calculus or equivalent, and instructor's consent.
This course introduces undergraduate and graduate students to the physical properties and dynamics of the oceans. Topics range from global circulation down to the small scales of turbulence. fact and theory are blended throughout. Quantitative problem solving (undergraduate and graduate students) and independent research (graduate students) is emphasized in assignments.
