Dalhousie Oceans Week
Dalhousie hosted Oceans Week from June 1-8. This series of events brought together scientists, industry leaders, government representatives and the public to celebrate the important role that oceans play in our economy, research, culture and way of life in Nova Scotia and the potential it holds for future prosperity. Outfront Magazine
The Fall/Winter 2009/2010 issue of OutFront, Dalhousie's research magazine, is a special issue focusing on ocean research. This issue includes features on many of the faculty from the Department of Oceanography.
Bedford Basin Ocean Monitoring Buoy
In October 2009 a team from Dalhousie's Department of Oceanography deployed an ocean monitoring system in Halifax's Bedford Basin. This research buoy provides near-real time optical, chemical, physical and meteorogical measurements, and is designed to complement the Bedford Insitute of Oceanography's weekly sampling of the basin for the Bedford Basin Plankton Monitoring Project.
